Why guests are asked to take part

Each episode is six to eight hours of Angela Bolton's work, followed by ongoing promotion. Love of One is self-funded, so all of that comes from her.

An episode is a lasting piece of marketing for the guest. It introduces their work to a new audience, gives them something to share with their own community, and stays online long after the recording. In many cases it does more for the guest than it does for the show. When a guest does not share their episode, that work reaches only half the people it could, and both sides lose out.

So the request in return is a simple one: that guests show up for their episode the way Angela shows up for it. The rest of this page lays out what that looks like.

Who these guidelines apply to

They apply to guests who contact Angela asking to be on the show, including pitches sent by publicists or booking agencies. She often does not know these guests beforehand, so the meet and greet and the agreement are how the two sides get to know each other and agree on what each one brings.

Guests Angela invites are different. If she reached out first, she is the one asking, and none of this is required. Invited guests still receive the same promotion kit, and anything they share is received with gratitude.

How a request becomes an episode

  1. Read these guidelines. Everything that is asked of a guest is on this page, so nothing arrives later as a surprise.
  2. Send the request. A short form introduces the guest and their work. Once it is filled in, the guest agreement opens beneath it, to be read, signed and sent in the same step.
  3. Book a meet and greet. If Angela has not already sat with the guest, or witnessed their work along her own journey or theirs, the next page offers a short 15 to 30 minute video call to meet before anything is scheduled. Guests she already knows skip this step.
  4. Set a recording date. If it is a fit, Angela replies by email to book the recording.
  5. Record, release and share. Angela records, edits and launches the episode, sends the promotion kit within a day of release, and the guest shares it.

What Angela provides

For every episode, the guest receives the following within a day of release:

  • The episode links for Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube and loveofone.com
  • Custom episode artwork for their feed, and a vertical version for stories and reels
  • Short video or audio clips from the conversation
  • Suggested captions, to use as written or change into their own words
  • An Instagram collaboration invite, so the post appears on both feeds
  • Tags on every platform where the episode is posted

The show notes include the guest's bio, their website, and any offer or resource they would like listeners to find.

What is asked of the guest

Everything here uses the materials Angela sends, so none of it should take more than about thirty minutes in total.

  • 6–8 hrsAngela's work on each episode
  • 1 dayFrom release to the promotion kit in the guest's inbox
  • 30 minAbout all the guest's sharing should take
  • Share the episode on at least two social platforms within three days of release.
  • Accept the Instagram collaboration invite when it arrives.
  • Include the episode in the next email newsletter, if there is one.
  • Add the episode to the media, press or podcast page of their website.
  • Share one clip or story during the two weeks after release.
  • Reply to listener comments on the collaboration post during the first few days.

If something on this list does not apply — not having a newsletter, for example — the guest only needs to say so. What matters is being an active part of sharing the episode.

The guest agreement, in plain words

The agreement is signed as part of the request, and Angela countersigns it once a recording date is set. In short, the guest agrees to:

  • Recording and publishing. Love of One and Angela Bolton may record, edit and publish the conversation in audio and video, in full or in clips, on any platform, including the podcast, YouTube, loveofone.com and social media.
  • Name and likeness. The guest's name, photo, bio and business details may be used in the episode, the show notes, the artwork and the promotion.
  • Editing. Love of One makes the final decisions about editing and release, and an episode may occasionally be delayed or not released.
  • No payment. Neither side pays the other for the appearance.
  • Promotion. The guest completes the items in “What is asked of the guest” above, and says if any of them do not apply.

Ready to send a request?

If this feels like a good match, the request form takes about ten minutes, and the agreement opens as soon as the introduction is complete. If it does not feel like a match, that is completely understood.
